Wedding cake first try

For my dear sister’s wedding at the beginning of April, my mom and I have decided to make a wedding cake. That is a huge project, it turns out – but hey, I will need to practice a lot! ;o)

Here are photos from my first try: very light cake layers (recipe from, a layer of raspberry mousse (the ready-to-use powder from, a layer of mango mousse (the ready-to-use neutral powder from, with mango puree and some bits of mango added), a layer of chocolate buttercream to shape it (butter, confectioner’s sugar, cocoa powder and a few teaspoons of milk), fondant (ready made, bought from, some fondant roses (home made!) and royal icing for the border at the bottom (confectioner’s sugar and egg white – so easy and yet so lovely).
